Re-Builders

About Our Company

Description

Built On A Foundation Of Trust

Re-Builders, Inc. has been rebuilding/remodeling homes and businesses throughout Horry and Georgetown Counties since 1994. The three-generation, family-owned company’s longtime presence in the local industry is a testament to its commitment to high-quality work and Five-star customer satisfaction.

We pride ourselves on providing great work while communicating with our customers to develop a five-star relationship with them,” says Ray Floyd, the Patriarch and President of Re-Builders.

Ray Floyd founded Re-Builders in 1994 when he felt a real need for a business specializing in renovations/ remodeling in the Grand Strand area and, in 2024, they were named “Best of Houzz Service,” proving the longevity his company and services are built on.

Expect a smooth, complete process when the team at Re-Builders attends to your project. Each renovation is customized to the client’s goals and needs, from major overhauls to kitchen and bathroom remodeling, to room additions, to commercial property renovations to a full list of design/build services.

“We’re a somewhat small company, we’re local, and we’re very hands-on,” says Ray, who graduated here locally from Conway High School in 1967 and the University of South Carolina in 1971 with a degree in marketing. “We have a staff of proven, qualified, trained employees who have been with us for over 10 to 15 years. It is extremely important to us that our clients know that our crew is very professional and trustworthy, and that there is a high level of comfortability with every staff member in their homes.”

Ray’s son, Chad, is one of those employees, serving as Vice President and Construction Manager of Re-Builders. He has been with Re-Builders since 1996 and is a South Carolina licensed home builder. Chad’s son, Jake, also works for the company, rounding out the third generation. He recently graduated from Horry Georgetown Technical College with a business associate’s degree.

“We [Ray and I] strive to visit all of our projects periodically to speak with our customers and to evaluate construction progress,” says Chad of Re-Builders’ hands-on approach. “We treat our clients’ homes like our own and pride ourselves on preparing their homes for their remodeling projects before we begin construction. We take care of their homes as if they were our own and strive to leave them clean as possible each day.”

“We pride ourselves on clean job sites,” agrees Ray. “People are very cognizant of cleanliness, especially when someone is working in their home, and they are living there. We’re also very mindful of working around their children and pets. That’s very important.”

Colt Karnes, a past client who hired Re-Builders for an extensive bathroom remodel for his family’s home in Socastee, can testify to that.

“We actually tested the waters first, if you will, by starting with them doing a playroom renovation for us,” says Karnes. “They made sure everything was clean and no dust. After that, we thought about it and decided we wanted them to do our bathroom remodel. Everyone on their crew has a great specialty, they’re very clean, and they’re effective. I work from home, so that meant a lot to me. They were always there with the subcontractors. And our bathroom is quite large, so when things came up, Ray made adjustments, like rerouting pipes. Overall, it was a great investment.”

Amy Sandt also hired Re-Builders for her bathroom remodel and says she couldn’t be happier with the project’s successful results.

We really love our new bathroom!” she says. “I think what we appreciate the most about it is how detailed and precise they were with their work. They really paid attention to every detail and everything was finished perfectly. There was nothing that had to be redone or that we needed them to come back and fix. They did it correctly and carefully and really cared about their work … They even came back out once our oversized light fixture came in to install it for us. Everything was done with great care.”

Although their main focus is on renovations and remodels, Ray says he’s particularly proud of the recent custom new build on the north end of Myrtle Beach.

“The Bradleys owned an older cottage, and they asked about remodeling it, but after examining the home I told them reluctantly that it was not a candidate to be remodeled and that it needed to be demolished,” says Ray. “So, after careful thought, they decided to let us remove it and design a new home for them.”

Susan Bradley agrees. “Ray is great. He’s honest and clear about the process and the communication,” she says. “When we first started working with Ray, there was a cottage on the property that we were going to renovate, but after further study with Ray, they demolished it for a new build, and we couldn’t be happier.”

Ray explains that a successful building and remodeling process requires clear and precise communication along with proper planning between the builder and the owner so that decisions and adjustments can be implemented in order for the project to proceed and be completed in a timely manner.

“Building, especially remodeling and renovating, is a lengthy, complicated process,” he says. “Most clients do not truly understand how many variables the remodeling process contains. It involves an enormous amount of planning.”

Sonja Hensley, Office Manager at Re-Builders for almost 11 years, began her studies at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and completed her degree in business management from Limestone University in South Carolina. She says she has consistently heard from clients that they trust Re-Builders’ reputation and their meticulous process.

I hear it often: Clients love that Re-Builders is a locally, family-owned, very reputable company with an impressive portfolio,” she says. “Ray and Chad are very hands-on, and very involved in every facet of their clients’ projects. Their professional, humble leadership and pride in their craft ‘trickles down from the top’ to the carefully chosen, highly skilled crew. It is a joy to be a part of this great team, to watch this company flourish, and to witness the many ways this family gives back to their beloved community.”

Beth Ervin Morrow, a past client, emphatically agrees.

I chose Rebuilders because they are a long-time local company with a reputation of good work and service. I’ve never heard anything but rave reviews about them,” she says. “Ray and his team did an addition to my kitchen and built a covered porch with a cathedral ceiling and fireplace. Both are enjoyed by me, my family and friends and, while entertaining guests, other builders commented on the fine work.

The next chapter of the Re-Builders legacy to continue their growth lies in the hands of Ray’s son, Chad, and grandson, Jake, after Ray says he finally decides to retire.

“Chad will take over the company,” says Ray. “And my grandson, Jake, says he wants to continue in this industry also, so we expect to be around here for a long time, providing great service and good quality work at an affordable price like we always have.”
