Appliances 4 Less owners, Mike & Winnie Cummiskey

Owner, Mike Cummiskey, explains the business model.

“We are a part of a chain that owns warehouses and retail appliance stores all over North America. With our partnerships with big name brands such as LG & GE, we have the ability to acquire huge shipments of appliances on a weekly basis. These shipments, in some cases, have a scratch or dent from either leaving the factory or during a customer delivery. Once they come to us, we then evaluate and determine the quality of the item, and the lowest price we can sell it for. Each appliance is tested before coming to our store and tested once again by our staff before leaving our store for customer delivery or pick up.”

Appliances 4 Less is located @ 862 US 501 South in Conway.

Customers call or visit Appliances 4 Less to determine inventory selections, and Appliances 4 Less provides delivery twice weekly or same day pickup. All products come with a one-year warranty and an extended warranty is also available.

Area homeowners as well as Realtors, investors, and property managers make up Cummiskey’s current clientele.

“A property manager will call and say, ‘I need a refrigerator for this property.’ The first time, they come in and we meet them,” said Cummiskey. “From then on, they just call, say they need a fridge, and it’s all done over the phone.”

Cummiskey is interested in generating relationships with area builders as well.

“A lot of new or existing homes being sold don’t include all of the appliances,” said Cummiskey. “I want builders to know there’s a cheaper option available for the client.”

As a small, family-owned startup business, Appliances 4 Less has enjoyed a positive reception.

“We’re grateful because we’ve had great support from the community,” said Cummiskey, including positive reviews and a growing following on Facebook. “We’re a new business, new to the community, and we’re getting a lot of support from people who like our products and professional services. 

Cummiskey predicts that his company will continue to grow, as relationships with builders are established and those with property managers and Realtors become stronger.  

The Appliances 4 Less delivery service, which is comprised of the company technician and a crew of students from nearby Coastal Carolina University, has been a popular factor as well.

“We’re getting really good feedback on our delivery,” said Cummiskey. “The guys are doing a fantastic job. We get phone calls from people saying, ‘These guys are wonderful!’”
