These areas not only add to the quality of their lives, they add to the value of their property. Brothers Tommy and Troy Ashburn have owned and operated The General Pool Company, Inc. since 1987.

They work with builders, businesses and individuals to provide commercial and custom residential pools, spas, fountains and other features, as well as cleaning services. Tommy says, “Our goal is to present an inviting atmosphere with a casual elegance.”
The company constructs custom concrete/Gunite pools and spas. “We build every one of our pools like we were building it for ourselves,” Tommy said. Modern technology allows them to offer clients the ability to use automatic control systems to operate all of the pool and spa functions with either a wall mounted control panel, a hand-held remote or a Smart phone. Some of the functions included are timers, lights, heaters, fountains, deck jets and waterfalls.
A large percentage of their custom pools are now being finished with quartz plaster, which is a much harder substance and more stain resistant than the traditional marcite (crushed white marble.) Salt generators are alsobeing used to sanitize pool water, eliminating the traditional chlorine that most people remember that could cause faded swim suits, bleached hair, red eyes and skin irritation.
The General Pool Company, Inc. offers over 100 pool designs and shapes that can be customized to meet anyone’s needs.Clients have the opportunity to see two or three pools incorporated into their design before making their decisions.
Tommy says there are many people who think they cannot have a pool because of the size and shape of their lots, but most of them can because concrete pools can be designed to fit into any space. “Once they pick out a design, we can start working on their color choices,” Tommy said, adding that they produce their own pool coping colors and consider colors to be one of the most important aspects.
He says, “Colors are very important, because four colors you’ll see throughout a pool’s life are in the plaster, tile, coping and decking. All four colors working together provide a soothing and inviting back yard retreat.”
